This ultra feminine, flirty, brilliantly colored creation is a rare & glorious example a 1930s era Summer dressing. This is made of a boldly printed sheer silk chiffon with a solid layer of lemony yellow chiffon lining the ruffled shawl neckline. This also has a ruffle at the hip level and the dress has the distinctive slight A line cut of the day.
The waist is cinched with a satin ribbon and this is an over the head garment with no snaps, zippers or buttoned openings. Underneath is a rayon attached underslip in pale peach and there is no labeling.
As is sometimes the case in rare garments of this age there are a handful of very minor flaws. Though professionally cleaned it retains a small dark brown spot as well as a couple of very small paler ones on the underslip (not seen when worn). The outer chiffon also has a small lighter brown spot at the front hip level though this virtually disappears within the complex print. There are 3 to 4 teeny pinholes in the outer chiffon at the front bottom hem.
All in all quite inconsequential for such a wearable gem - an almost weightless textile in an absolutely wonderful print very indicative of the time period.
